We say “Global South” because it is less stigmatizing than the formerly used term “Third World.” But in truth, we’re still talking about the same part of the globe. About the same people. And if we go deeper — about their daily lives, living conditions, and (most importantly) their prospects. Or the lack thereof. The Footprint Foundation operates precisely in this area. Although we currently focus on a few specific countries and projects, it’s impossible to speak about them without acknowledging the broader context. That’s why we decided to show the “Global South” through our own eyes. From this perspective, the topic of our first presentation — Algeria — might seem unexpected. But that’s exactly why I felt it was the right place to begin. On May 20th, the first presentation took place in Bielsko-Biała. We thank everyone for coming and for your active participation.
